Sports & nature

Everyone needs to get outside and take a walk in nature, breathe in fresh air and experience a little excitement and relaxation in the rich surroundings of centuries-old forests. Food and drink in Serbia are still naturally tasty and fresh, and you can drink water from mountain streams or eat fruit straight from the tree. However, if you are looking for a little more action, on water we recommend sailing or rowing, and cycling or skiing on “dry” land. Besides a river cruise on a large boat, you can sail by yourself on Serbia’s gentle rivers and lakes or even take part in one of many regattas. Walking and hiking Skiing Bicycling Sailing and rowing Horse riding Sailing If you have ever dreamt of rafting down untamed mountain river rapids, of parachuting or paragliding into a flowering meadow or of experiencing the charm of flying in a hot air balloon or a glider, in Serbia your dreams will come true. Serbia’s many diverse caves and potholes are heaven for explorers and adventure seekers. If you simply want to experience something new, then the subterranean world will provide you with fun, knowledge and excitement found nowhere else. Nightlife info

There are winter and summer Belgrade clubs. Winter nightclubs are located downtown, and their busy season stretches from October through May. In the summer, Belgrade party moves to the rivers, where summer nightclubs have their opening nights in May. Actually, those are big, open-air rafts and boats, remodeled into discotheques. The most popular Belgrade clubs are those on the river Sava, starting from the old Railway Bridge and up to the “Gazela” bridge, and also those on the Danube, near “Hotel Yugoslavia”. Belgrade nightclubs don’t practice cover charge, but the reservation is necessary. All spots – by the bar, bar tables, high tables, VIP tables – are bound to be reserved. It is very important to get into the club no later than half past midnight, because otherwise the club has the right to give your reservation to someone else. Also, in nightclubs in Belgrade you can’t enter inappropriately dressed (like: sports fashion), and you can’t carry drinks, narcotics or weapons inside. Besides that, bouncers at the gate are checking if your name is on the list of guests. Nightlife image

Culture and history info

Identification. The name Yugoslavia previously designated six republics (Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzogovia, Croatia, and Slovenia), but now includes just Serbia and Montenegro. The word means "land of the southern Slavs." Montenegro, which means "black mountain," takes its name from its rugged terrain. Within Serbia there are several national cultures. In addition to the dominant Serb tradition, there is a large Hungarian population in the northern province of Vojvodina, where Hungarian is the common language and the culture is highly influenced by Hungary (which borders the province to the north). In southern Serbia, the province of Kosovo is primarily Albanian, and has an Islamic culture that bears many remnants of the earlier Turkish conquest. Culture and history image
